The Container Yard
Combining experiential art gallery, makerspace, retail, and food hall, this arts and innovation space is a 35,000 SF creative compound in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles. In the face of fast-approaching gentrification and development, our client had a vision to take the five buildings that make up the complex – four former warehouses and the former home of Mikawaya, a Japanese-American confectionery whose founder invented mochi ice cream – and turn them into a creative hub that would honor the neighborhood’s artistic history and contribute to the local economy.
