• Broad Institute – Cambridge Headquarters

The headquarters for this visionary genomic research institute, a partnership between Harvard and MIT, were designed to foster and embody the larger ideals of collaboration, openness, and transparency. These guiding principles were directly translated into the design of labs, offices, common areas, a grand lobby, and auditorium and influenced not only materiality, program distribution, layout, and circulation, but also led to innovative solutions in lab design and fire separation strategy.  To meet a breakneck 24-month design and construction schedule dictated by funding restrictions, a design team of architects, engineers, and consultants collaborated intensively with the Broad Institute’s founding director and lead faculty from several parent institutions.
