Southern New Hampshire University – Green Center for Student Success
Decommissioned library reborn as vibrant campus center
When SNHU approached Analogue Studio to transform a 25,000-square-foot decommissioned library into a campus center with offices, conference rooms, and lounge areas for groups ranging from the ROTC to the Women’s Center, we knew that upfront research would be essential to the success of the project. Working closely with SNHU, we conducted an in-depth programming study, including interviews with all of the building’s stakeholders, and multiple iterations on test plans and adjacency analysis. This led to the design of a central lounge at the heart of the Green Center, where members from all corners of the SNHU community feel welcome to gather. We also created a shared event space, which serves to anchor the new campus Quad. The school’s New England setting weaves throughout the design, with a palette of interior wall panels that evoke fall foliage, and a new entrance canopy wrapped in rich wood tones.
