St. Ann’s Home
New adolescent center for historic institution dedicated to the care of children
Designed to project a new vision for a historic institution, the Adolescent Center at St. Ann’s Home reinvigorates a campus that dates back to 1925, and provides much-needed classrooms, dormitory space, common areas, and a gymnasium for this school that serves children with behavioral challenges. By combining an exterior amphitheater with a large, interior assembly space, the new building forms a social and visual bridge between the upper and lower sections of the campus. From conceptual design through construction, the design team worked hand in hand with St. Ann’s Home and its selected builder to incorporate materials and systems that would make the most of the institution’s budget while also bringing a sense of warmth and modernity to the otherwise traditional campus.
